Propylene glycol, commonly referring to 1,2-propylene glycol (PG), is a colorless, odorless, viscous, water-soluble diol with a CAS number of 57-55-6 and molecular formula C3H8O2. Its chemical structure is CH3CH(OH)CH2OH, containing two adjacent hydroxyl (–OH) groups, which confer excellent solvent power and hygroscopic (moisturizing) properties.
